This is what made Prophecies GREAT and realistic. Boss Monsters should be random and move around all the time imho. They should have done it in all chapters so people have to WORK for their skills instead of being handed to them on a silver platter as they are now. Hell you can even just buy elite skills now what adventure or challenge is there in that?

Anet has totally ruined the true and real concept of roleplaying and adventure. Instead they have turned it into a bargain book store where you can buy just about anything without having to move from a spot.

Why do you even play a game if you don't want to actually roleplay and go on an adventure? You shouldn't even be playing these kinds of games with that kind of frame of mind. If all you care about is epeen and being just like the guy standing next to you immediately without effort then you need to just quit playing these types of games at all. You're not even playing you're just copying so really your lil peen isn't growing at all, just your imagination that it is. lol lmao hahahahaah

-Feast of Corruption, didn't feel like making the long hike
-Xinrae's Weapon, though I later found out how easy it was to cap

At least in Mineral Springs, all six bosses are guaranteed to spawn, just not in the same spot. Also gives you some Avicara Scalps to sell this week.
Abaddon's Mouth had some annoying elites. But I still got them all to spawn.
Hell's Precipice wasn't so bad. They all spawned for me.
Haven't started EOTN yet. When I finished Factions (Nightfall>Prophecies>Factions), I got bored of the game and quit most PvE lol. I might go back though if they are much easier though.

Why doesn't anybody have luck with the random spawn point thing though? Mine show up.

I've personally had no problem capping elites in Prophecies, not in Mineral Springs, Perdition Rock, Snake Dance... as a matter of fact I bought my monk a run to Droks from Beacons and I was out in Snake Dance at lvl 7 capping elites with a group of henchmen, lol. I got spellbreaker from Raptorhawk and Signet of Judgement from Frostbite in Talus Chute (talk about a super easy one!).

The only time I've ever completely and utterly failed to cap an elite was WoH in Arbor Bay in EotN. Flannuss Broadwing the Krait monk boss is surrounded by all those eles and it just team wiped me 3 times.

So I gave up and decided WoH can wait until I get my monk over to Thirsty River... although I have to wait at least it'll be an easy cap and if I worked on it, I could be over there in a day or so, just do Sactum Cay real quick and I know my way around the desert. I could buy an elite tome, but I'm too cheap and capping is fun (most of the time)

I think WOH is easiest to get in Factions Falynn.

Factions
Ziinfaun Lifeforce (Xaquang Skyway)

Yeah that's the easy one. Xaquang Skyway is easy to do.

Thanks Red, I think I'll try that.

Hands down it was trying to cap Obsidian Flesh from Harn Coldstone in Perdition Rock. Every time I would go out with the old capping groups, Maxine would always show up instead, he would never ever show up unless I was out there without a cap sig. Not really hard although the area seemed to cause significant trouble for pugs, but incredibly frustrating.

All that are random or appear only inside a certain Mission.

Every single elite that appears first inside a mission should appear later in an explorable.
And finding a boss with an elite should not depend on luck and multiple retries.

There is no fun nor 'roleplay' in zoning again and again until a certain boss decides to spawn. All that is there is time consuming frustration.
I don't mind at all to go Capture Maw's Elite in the middle of the Shivepeaks. It's far, it takes time, but the boss will be sure there. But there is no merit in zoning again and again until you get the Maggo Hydra boss you want outside amber camp, even if it's close.

All Prophecies elites are all packed towards the end of the game. The only good ones are those that will surely appear, like the monk in the Crystal Desert or the Avicara Bosses.

Things are better when they are spread evenly. The main flaw in Prophecies is having level 20 stuff from The Crystal Desert instead from Lion's Arch.

iirc, aren't most of the elites the Facets have the same ones from Dragon's Lair? And the one that's not from there is from a Kournan boss you pretty much have to go past at one point...

Also, Caretaker's Charge. Goddamned temple, hell, goddamned Torment...

You could also try Hahan, Faithful Protector in the Garden of Seborhin...

I got that out of the way first thing when I started capping Elona.

Generally speaking, when it comes to core skills, I capped them all in Factions because that's where they're most accessible - lots of outposts to run from, guaranteed spawns, and easy access to those outposts. Kuunvie Firewing may be an annoying boss to get to, but she's a guaranteed spawn.

And, well, core skills wise - take Barrage for example. I'd rather get it from Aurora in Boreas Seabed than Markis in Iron Mines. You get the former mission outpost earlier and you meet Aurora earlier in Boreas than you meet Markis in Iron Mines.

Ones that are random, really far away, or both. Glad they haven't done much of this since Proph.

I'd have to say the random spawns in Prophecies made me dread some of the caps, though I kinda prepared for it by saving up whatever Elite Tomes I got. Then looked up the most annoying random-spawn bosses and 'poof', skill capped. Saved some frustration at the cost of a lil money, but was well worth it.

Random spawns in prof can be a little bit of a bind.

I did notice a post on barrage thats a simple one ..when you land on mainlandland and do the quest"The great escape" the guy is in the fort .
So cant see where that ones hard .or far into the game like markis /or boras ect

I had an absolutely awful time capping Healer's Boon. I would kill Josinq the Whisperer, and before I could finish activating the signet, he would rez. That and the elite made him a hell of a healer for his party, which is none too easy either.

Its always helpfull to bring some form of caster shutdown when you go out to cap elites from monk bosses. Especially ones that have powerfull healing elites such as WoH. BHA + Minions usually works well, but even a mesmer with diversion, shame and some interupts should manage fine.

Oh, LOL, didn't realise - I capped it before NF came out, see! *grin

It's not a hard cap - far from it. Just that for most core skills, Prophecies is the last place I'd go to cap them. Great Escape vs. Boreas Seabed vs. Iron Mines... right, I know I wouldn't pick the last one if I could help it.

Barrage is also a very easy cap inside the "Against the Charr" mission too in EOTN.

I'm aware it's an easy cap there, too - well, I was once I opened wiki. *shrug* Most bosses I capped in Factions because it was far more convenient for me, like I said. The Charr areas are IMO less convenient than most Factions outposts.

Boreas wasn't really far into the game for me - Factions is by far one of the fastest to get through: small explorables, most missions can be done under 30 mins, etc. Prophecies has a significantly larger map, longer missions = takes longer to get to the boss you want if he spawns at the end. It's convenient enough if you're finishing the mission and he's guaranteed to spawn along the way, but otherwise it's plain annoying. Barrage was pretty much a random example of a core skill; I am aware that there are several easy spots to cap it from - I'm just pointing out that by and large if you want a core skill, it's significantly easier to cap it from any campaign but Prophecies. (I don't really count GWEN, as it's an expansion; but it did make capping the Mineral Springs stuff slightly less annoying.)

Random boss spawns are dumb. Extremely time consuming for a game geared toward Skill > Time. Can you smell the hypocrisy since day 1?

I did this too. Certain skill caps just weren't worth my time.

ANY skill cap in the Ring of Fire.

Missions, explorable spawns... anything.
